... several minutes later...
LOL. All it takes is a good prayer and a few minutes and your whole attitude changes. Don't you love it? I think I'm way excited about transfers now. I got called up by another Elder and got told where I'm going... and if it's true, it's very funny and I'm way excited. It's called Shoal Creek B and Elder Dutson should be my Zone Leader. How cool would that be? I hear that he's grown up a lot since the MTC. It will be nice to finally be around him. More info on Shoal Creek B: It's actually where Tom Meester got baptized. It's part of the UT singles ward. Maybe I'll see Nyle. :)
Let's give you the story of Tom. We have been committing every family in the ward to make a list of 5 people, at least, and pray about their specific needs. Well, the Compton family did it, and Ashley Compton gave away a Book of Mormon to Tom Meester, her ex-boyfriend. Tom had a lot of free time on his hands, so he read it. Once he got past 2nd Nephi, he decided he wanted to talk to the missionaries. Instead of introducing Tom to his own missionaries, or even the missionaries in her own singles ward, she chose us. She thought we were the best. He was the most elect person I've seen yet. Great Tom quotes: "I pray and ask God questions, Then I read the Book of Mormon and they all get answered!" and "A bible a bible, we have a bible, but why would you not want more of the word of God?... it just makes sense." He told us he knew the book was true. We taught him that this meant the church was true and he needed to get baptized. He accepted and got baptized about 2 weeks later. I was the one that got to baptize him too. We had to turn him over to Shoal Creek B, so the baptism didn't count in McNiel, but we did everything for them. LOL! The spirit and Tom did everything for us though. It felt so good to baptize. I'm glad the Lord blessed us with that, even though Elder Himes's ankle wasn't working. He's 20, so my next task is get him on a mission. I guess we find out tomorrow if I'm really going to be in his ward. I can't wait. Transfers are always full of mixed emotions. Picture it. I would imagine it feels like how you felt when you left Utah. Except I don't know where I'm going and I'm getting someone who I have to love and be with 24/7. Plus having to gain the trust of a whole ward and remember their names. LOL. Then we throw into the mix my district I have to help be their best. It's just a lot...
