February 6-12, 2009

So... the exiting news of transfers.  Yesterday was transfer day.  I think I am done trying to figure out transfers before they happen.  Only trouble comes of that.  I was talking to Elder Hynynen about where I could go and where I would like to go.  Funny enough, he got the area that would be toughest for him and I got the area toughest for me.  So, day of transfers, we pack all of our stuff up, load it in the truck and every missionary getting transferred meets at the stone oak chapel in San Antonio.  We have a meeting where we meet the new missionaries.  Then we get to hear the missionaries that are going home give their testimonies.  After that, they call out each area in San Antonio one by one.  They announce the area and the elder/sister staying there.  When they get to the front, they tell them their new companion.  It's way fun but nerve racking.  We have two other Elder Morris in our mission.  They both got called out before me.  For a second, I thought I was getting doubled in and training.  After they have announced everyone in San Antonio, the remaining go to Austin.  ...Guess what, I'm in Austin.  They put your stuff in a Uhal and drive about an hour and a half to Austin to the Austin transfers.  Fun stuff, right?  They get started right away with call-outs.  I am in the area called McNeil.  It is just west of Pflugerville and Round Rock and east of Cedar Park.  It's not that big of an area and I am on bike again.  My district that I take care of (I'm a District Leader) is made up of me and my companion Elder Nielson, two other Elders, Laycock and SantaCruz, and two sisters, Dorsey and Holstead.  We live in a member's home.  That's a first for me.  Weird thing about living in a member's home is waking up to his daughter and her boyfriend snuggling on the couch.  The member we live with is named Mickey.  His daughter's boyfriend is only here for the weekend, so I won't be seeing them snuggle anymore, don't worry.  Elder Nielson is from Rexburg ID.  He is 19.  He is an English speaking elder which means I'm in an English area.  He has also only been out one transfer.

Update... we officially have two baptisms this saturday.  One is named Chris.  She was a tricky one, but we got the interview done and she is set and solid for Valentines day.  I can't wait.  Then another one of our investigators called... Tina.  She told us that she was gonna feed us on Saturday and "oh yeah, I wanna be baptized with Chris."  So, she has some things to deal with, but hopefully we can get them worked out.  If all goes well, two baptisms.

Things are looking better here.  Elder Nielson and I are getting along great.  Lol!  My zone leader was DL here about 3 months ago, so he knows a lot about the area.  He said it was his toughest are and he has had a lot of tough ones.  Pray for me, okay?  I know the Lord has placed me here to help him make it better.
